Quantum Capital Partners acquires Eberswalde railway yard

A subsidiary of Quantum Capital Partners AG, Munich, has taken over the Eberswalde railway yard from Deutsche Bahn AG. Signed back in April 2016, the sale and purchase agreement has now been approved by the antitrust authorities and will take effect on 1 January 2017.

Quantum had already acquired a rail car manufacturer (WBN Waggonbau Niesky GmbH) in Niesky, Saxony, from Deutsche Bahn more than two years ago. The yard in Eberswalde, which will have a workforce of at least 210 in the future, handles wagon and coach repairs, making it the ideal complement to the WBN Waggonbau product range. Quantum has given a location guarantee of five years for the Eberswalde yard.

In this transaction Quantum was advised by TRACC LEGAL in Munich, led by Dr. Thomas Lotz. TRACC had also supported Quantum in the acquisition of WBN in 2014. The legal advice for Deutsche Bahn was provided by its own legal department and led by attorney Dr. Martin Lamm.
